History/background of the business

Founded in August 2007, Biodata Ltd, has developed a modular electronic laboratory management software package to improve the management of any laboratory. The company is privately held and is located in Tel Aviv, Israel. Currently BioKMTM is used by several customers in Israel successfully. The modularity of the software package enables companies and research facilities to utilize the components they need as their laboratory expands.

Company strategy

Biodata is focused on providing their customers a comprehensive system for laboratory management with an intuitive interface to enable ease of use.


Management Team :

Yonatan_gross__icon Jonathan Gross (M.Sc.) - CEO & Founder :
Mr. Gross worked at Kontera, Procognia and Magen Software among others. His work built upon his B.Sc. in Computer Science and M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Currently he started the Israeli Bio-Professional Group aimed to promote the connections between the academic research and industrial life science communities in Israel. Jonathan has also started the IDC entrepreneur’s club to provide a forum and meeting place for IDC future and past entrepreneur’s to meet and network with others in the community.
Hamutal Lotan Hamutal Lotan (M.Sc) - Manager of Sales & Marketing:
Mrs. Lotan worked at Intel and Q.B.I. before going back to study for her Masters in Biotechnology. She is currently involved in leading Biodata’s sales and marketing.
Hamutal Lotan Omri Kaye - Integration Manager / Customer support:
Mr. Kaye is currently involved with research at the Hebrew University where he is pursuing his bachelors degree. He has several years of experience working with plants and herbs focused on growing and packaging the harvested product.


Prof. Zach Adam Prof. Zach Adam: scientific adviser - Plant related modules
Prof. Adam is a leading scientist in the field of plant cellular biology.
His research interest focus in Proteolysis in Chloroplasts.
Prof. Adam contributed from his knowledge and expertise of laboratory management and specifically plant modules.

Dr. Rakefet Rosenfeld Dr. Rakefet Rosenfeld: scientific adviser
Rakefet Rosenfeld Ph.D. received her doctorate degree in mathematical biology from the Hebrew University, and has extensive industrial experience in establishing and managing multidisciplinary and technology oriented projects in the Biotechnology Industry. She is currently Vice President of Research and Bioinformatics at Pronto Diagnostics. Prior to holding this position she held an Executive Vice President position at Procognia Ltd. where she was actively involved in establishing the company's core technology and computational technology platforms. She previously held the position of Director of Bioinformatics at Quark Biotech, working in the field of functional genomics; Head of Molecular Modeling at Peptor Ltd.; and Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Bio-Molecular Engineering at Boston University.
